Richard Brockman’s plays include Angels Don't Dance, 5 o'Clock, Change of Heart, The Black Devil, Informed Consent, Air Rites, The Last Trick, and Lake Effect. His plays have been performed off and off-off-Broadway in New York, Fringe in London as well as nationally and internationally. His plays have received grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts - as well as finalist at the Samuel French Best Short Play Festivals, Theater in the Raw biennial play writing contest, The American Blues Theater’s Blue Ink Festival. He was an invited playwright at the 7 Devils Playwrights Conference in McCall, Idaho, the National Winter Playwrights Festival, Creede, Colorado, and at the Mid-America Theatre Conference.
His articles have appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The Los Angeles Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Readers Digest.
Richard is a member of the Actors Studio Playwright-Directors Unit, the Dramatist Guild, and is a founding member of the WorkShop Theater Company.
In film, Brockman's feature Producing credits include The Only Real Game (Netflix) and Nobody’s Girls (PBS/CPB). He was co-Executive Producer of Last Dance (Academy Award shortlist for Feature Documentary), and Producer of the award-winning environmental feature documentary, No Fear No Favor. His screenplay Good Behavior has won recognition from The New York Foundation for the Arts, Cynosure, The Texas Film Institute, The South by SouthWest Film Festival, and 5th Night Festival, among others.
